The BVDW Internet Agency Ranking 2026 marks a special milestone: this year, the ranking celebrates its 25th anniversary. Since 2001, the German Digital Industry Association (BVDW) has been collecting annual revenue and headcount data from German digital agencies, making it the most authoritative industry benchmark in this segment. No jury, no application process: the figures come directly from the agencies themselves.

The 2026 ranking was published on May 19, 2026. Friendventure ranks 45th overall, up from 56th the previous year, and lands among the Top 3 fastest-growing digital agencies in Germany with a revenue above 2.5 million euros for the second consecutive year.

How has the German digital agency market developed in 2026?

The market remains under pressure. Many agencies in the ranking report negative year-on-year figures, some significantly so. Budget sensitivity on the client side, longer decision-making cycles and a generally cautious investment climate have put the entire industry under strain over the past few years.

Friendventure’s results in the BVDW Internet Agency Ranking 2026

Friendventure reports a fee revenue of 8.838 million euros in the 2026 ranking, representing growth of 25.3 percent compared to the previous year. The team has grown to 86 employees. In the sub-ranking of fastest-growing agencies with revenue above 2.5 million euros, Friendventure places third, behind RYZE Digital and Digital Masters.

Last year, Friendventure ranked first in this sub-ranking with 17 percent growth. Placing among the top three fastest-growing mid-sized digital agencies in Germany for two consecutive years is not a typical pattern in a market where many agencies are currently struggling with stagnation.

What enables stable growth in a challenging market?

The honest answer is that there is no single measure, but rather a combination of decisions made years earlier.

During periods when other agencies cut budgets for self-marketing and business development, Friendventure continued to invest consistently. In economically uncertain times, clients become more selective about who they work with. Agencies that remain visible and accessible during these phases gain market share, even when the short-term return on those investments is not immediately measurable.

This means clients who need both a strong website and social media, performance marketing or inbound strategies can get everything from a single source, without having to coordinate between separate agencies. This setup is reflected in the numbers.
